Free nurseries in Tuscany: applications close on 26 October, but you need the INPS bonus first
The Tuscany Region has reopened applications for Nidi Gratis: until 6 pm on 26 October 2026 you can ask for a discount on your nursery fee, up to €527.27 a month per child, with an ISEE up to €40,000. It applies across Tuscany, Florence included. One condition the press releases skip: you must already have applied to INPS for the nursery bonus, because the Region pays the part INPS does not refund.

From 9 am on Monday 12 October 2026 until 6 pm on Monday 26 October the Tuscany Region has reopened applications for Nidi Gratis, the contribution that lowers the fee for nurseries and other early childhood services for children aged 3 to 36 months. It applies in every municipality in Tuscany, Florence included.
Outside this window the application cannot be filed: either you do it now or you wait for the next call.
Who can apply
- Families with an ISEE up to €40,000. The ISEE is the document that sums up your family's economic situation: here is how to get it.
- Children aged 3 to 36 months, resident in a Tuscan municipality.
- A place actually assigned at a service taking part in the measure: municipal nurseries, accredited private services under agreement, play spaces, home-based educational services. Being on a waiting list is not enough.
Citizenship has nothing to do with it: what counts is the child's residence and the ISEE.
How much you save
Up to €527.27 a month per child, for a maximum of 11 monthly instalments of the educational year. It is not money paid into your account: it is a discount on the fee, applied directly by the nursery. For applications filed in this reopening the discount starts in December 2026.
The condition you cannot skip: INPS comes first
The Region covers the part of the fee that INPS does not refund. That is why it requires the parent to have already applied to INPS for the nursery bonus: without that application, the first of the two pieces is missing. How to apply
Online only, through the regional application, by 6 pm on 26 October: www.regione.toscana.it/scuola/app-NidiGratis.
You need a digital identity to log in. The call page lists SPID, CIE (the electronic identity card) and CNS (the national services card), while the Region's press releases mention SPID only: if CIE does not let you in, you need SPID. Do not leave this to the last day.

If you already applied in the spring
You do not have to apply again. For applications filed by 26 June 2026 the discount runs from September 2026: this reopening is for those who did not apply then.
