Turin's mobile library comes to Vanchiglia: every Monday in piazza Santa Giulia, and the card is free
From Monday 12 October 2026 Bibliobus 1 stops in piazza Santa Giulia, every Monday from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm. It is a library on wheels: you borrow and return books, sign up on the spot and use the wi-fi. Joining costs nothing and all you need is a valid identity document and your tax code. The stop is a trial and runs to the end of the year: in January the city reviews the timetable based on how many people used it.

From Monday 12 October 2026 the City of Turin's Bibliobus 1 also stops in piazza Santa Giulia, in the Vanchiglia district (Circoscrizione 7), every Monday from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
The bibliobus is a library on wheels: a vehicle fitted with books and wi-fi that brings the service to neighbourhoods far from the civic library branches. Turin has three of them, running since 2018.
What you can do when it stops
- Borrow books and return them.
- Join the library service right there, without going to a branch.
- Use the wi-fi and the library's digital services.
All free: neither the bibliobus nor the card costs anything.
How to get the card
Joining is free and the card works in every library of the BI.TO network, not only in the city of Turin. You need a valid identity or recognition document and your tax code. The city's page does not list which documents count for people who are not Italian citizens, so if all you have is your residence permit, bring your passport too and you will not be turned back.
For children under 18 a parent's authorisation is required, together with the parent's document, original or copy: if your child goes alone, send that along.
You can also pre-register online: it lets you reserve up to three books straight away and use the digital library, but it must be confirmed in person within three months or it lapses.
The card also works from home
Membership opens the MLOL digital library: online newspapers, e-books on loan, audiobooks. That is the part that matters most if you work all day and never make it to a library.
The stop is a trial, and that matters
The piazza Santa Giulia stop runs on a trial basis until the end of 2026. The city wrote that it will help assess how residents respond before the overall timetable of stops is updated in January 2027: if the stop is useful to you, using it is how you keep it.
Times and stops for the other two bibliobus are on the Turin civic libraries website. The City of Turin switchboard is 011 011 999.
